However, becoming a lawyer requires years of hard work and study to do so. The steps to becoming a lawyer are college, law school, and passing a state bar exam.

The first step to becoming a lawyer is going to an accredited college or university. Individuals who want to become lawyers must take the pre-law treatise established in the university’s curriculum. By adhering to this curriculum, students can gain information on what it takes to become a lawyer. Once a degree is completed, the student will take the LSAT exam for admission to law school.

Getting good grades in college and a high score on the LSAT will directly help a prospective law student gain access to an accredited law school. While in law school, professors will teach students the ins and outs of the profession. It is also important during this time period to get as many internships and internships as possible to help reinforce a future resume.

Once a law student graduates from law school, they will be eligible to request a state bar exam. This is the exam that, if passed, will certify a person as a licensed attorney.
