The sport of cricket: religion in India

Countless people, standing in long orderly lines, and waiting for a single entry pass to catch a glimpse of their favorite cricketer, all in front of them.

What is this?

This is the love, dedication, charm and devotion that is hard to put into words. And it won’t be an exaggeration if you qualify “Cricket” as a religion in India.

On game day, expect the roads to be empty, the offices quiet, the students missing classes, and most people glued to some digital score provider.

Don’t worry if you are watching the live stream of the game on your digital device and any unknown person comes up to you asking, “Dude, what’s the score?” Trust me, tell him the score and he’s doing an act of kindness.

Such is the cricket fever in the Indians and this runs in their blood similar to any normal cell type of the vital fluid.

The god of cricket:

If we consider this as a religion, we also have a deity whom we worship as The God. And this God is none other than our very noble and popular ‘Sachin Tendulkar’.

Known as the ‘Little Master’ and the ‘Master Blaster’, the God of cricket is a living inspiration to countless aspiring enthusiasts from almost all over the world.

If you ever approach an Indian boy who has a bat in his hand and ask him what he dreams of for his future, don’t be surprised if he tells you that one day he wishes to become ‘Sachin Tendulkar’.

This little man is the crownless ‘king of hearts’ to almost each and every Indian who loves cricket. And although the God has withdrawn from all formats of this game, he still continues to motivate others, not to become ‘Sachin Tendulkar’, but to earn a name of their own.

So this is again proof of the value of this sport among Indian fans.

India-Pakistan Matches:

There are less entertaining events in the world that could be compared to the entertainment, excitement, charm and fascination offered by a cricket match between India and its ever-existing rival Pakistan.

Both countries have a history of producing cricket legends and when these two nations fight to win a match, even a cricket fan is sure to be drawn. Each and every one of the balls, almost each and every one of the entrances of this type of matches are full of innumerable emotions; the emotions we carry for this sport.

And deep down, cricket could certainly be called as the soul of the Indians that tends to take root better in hearts.

India is a secular country with due respect to each and every religion. And among the most popular, cricket also highlights one, with the head looking more towards the sky.
