why we travel

Why actually? Traveling is in the blood of man. I am alive, I will travel. I will go on a private or very public vacation.

Seeing is believing

You have seen the seven wonders of the world in photos and videos numerous times. No one could blame you for the boredom that sets in after a while. You might not exactly be interested in going to Up on the Cripple Creek with The Band for company on YouTube after a couple thousand times, but wouldn’t you just be dying to be at their live show? That’s travel: a live show! That is the most private vacation you can get. Standing in front of the Cheops Pyramid and feeling the euphoria is not the same as the long videos put out by the BBC or something like that.

The atmosphere of your living room can never be compared to the very presence of the Taj Mahal or the Great Wall of China that disappears into nothing on the horizon. Man-made or designed by nature, to see something first hand is what travel is all about. Savoring authentic local food should not be forgotten, whether you eat it at the street vendor where the sky is the ceiling or at a fancy restaurant where the price skyrockets. Private or group vacation, you can enjoy your trip the way you choose to eat the way you prefer.

Nostalgia as a catalyst

Longing for days gone by is more than a feeling. More like falling in love. You can fall in love as many times as you see a pretty girl. Going back in time to remember events and places is a sweet way to pass the time. What if you could actually go back to the place but not to the actual period in time? The time machines may not be there for you to take a trip, but for now, you can take a bus or something to go back to the place you love.

Even a blade of grass that had been green a year ago when you first saw it, but has turned orange, can do things to you. Each place has its own place in one’s heart. The backyard of the house you grew up in but no longer live in, the hillside where you and your friends smoked a cigarette, all have a million dollar memory attached to them. You’re actually lucky you don’t have to spend that much. Travel expenses are all you need for a very private vacation of this type.

travel briefs

Some of the world’s most famous travelers have left their experience in the books they wrote. Reading his Kindle books tells of the passion of even an indifferent traveler to start thinking seriously about packing up and moving on. In recent times, Harvard professor George Santayana’s praise for traveling should have inspired thousands to take a journey.

Sea, the rival of the land

The expanse of the sea, for countless men who live on land, is an attraction like no other. Walking on the promenade deck of an ocean liner with the cool breeze caressing your entire anatomy with the afternoon sun shining on the blue sea and turning it golden is what heaven is all about. Every man, woman and child is transformed into a true Sailor Blue as he sets sail. Why not? Aren’t sailors some of the happiest people?

get away from it all

Nobody except the Beatles can have an eight day week, but the work you do for 5 days a week makes you feel like you had an eight day week. You want to take the road hitherto untaken to places where no man has gone before. You don’t need to pore over travel statistics to know that travel around the world is increasing significantly, whether it’s a private vacation or a vacation taken with all the family and friends.

So why do we travel?
