Choosing a Diet – Atkins Diet: Less Skeptical Medical Community

A report in The American Journal of Medicine says…

After all, the Atkins diet can help your heart and has been given a sort of SCIENTIFIC approval. The medical community is less skeptical of the Atkins diet than they are of all the large amounts of protein and fat in the diet; saying that people can lose weight twice as muchst based on a 6-month study of a low-carb/high-fat diet as a person on a low-fat/calorie-restricted diet. However, it is believed that people will gain weight back faster once they come off the Atkins diet.

Regardless of the type of diet you choose, making a weight loss and maintenance program a Changes in lifestyle will reduce weight fluctuations.

What kind of diets have you been doing? I have heard of so many over the years:

  • The grapefruit diet
  • chocolate diet
  • ice cream diet
  • liquid diet
  • 3 day diet
  • protein diet
  • cottage cheese diet

Oh my! In my opinion, it’s always best to eat regular foods, but cut back on portion sizes. This cuts calories and before you know it, you’ll have lost weight too. It may be slower than a crash diet, or one of the fad diets, but in the long run, the weight needs to be kept off longer.

Eating what you normally eat, but in smaller amounts, will also prevent you from binge eating. Don’t go without the foods you love, as mentioned, cut down on your portion size. Eat one cup of pasta instead of 2-3. Increase the amount of vegetables you eat, serving 2-3 different vegetables and no more than 3 oz. of cooked meat. Lighten in loaves.

These are all tips that help balance the weight!
