Indian cricket is the great combination of national and regional cricket teams. Each state in India has its own regional cricket team and all these teams participate in many tournaments like Ranji Trophy and Duleep Trophy. The best players from these regional cricket teams advance and get the chance to prove themselves at international level. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is the largest cricket authority in India; has responsibility for the selection of the national team and also makes all other decisions related to sponsorship and determining the role of each player in the national cricket team. Apart from BCCI, each state has its own cricket board which runs and controls teams at the state level and also prepares good players for future responsibilities. No doubt these state level cricket authorities play a vital role in deciding the future of the national team; in fact, our team now has many energetic young players like Dhoni, Harbhajan Singh and Pathan just through the effort of these state authorities.

The Indian cricket team was approved as a Test team in 1932, which was a matter of great honor for all Indians; in the same year the team played their first Test cricket match against England at Lords and really showed their potential as a good Test side. After that day, the Indian players never looked back and set off to make and break records. For that, India won the cricket world cup in 1983 and the T-20 world cup a few months ago this year. India earned their first Test win against England in Madras in 1952; then the same year the team won the first test series, which was against Pakistan. That was truly an indescribable experience for the entire nation and after their initial wins, the team upped their game throughout the decade.

In 1971, the advent of international one-day cricket shaped a new dimension in the world of cricket; Initially, India was not very strong in ODIs, which led to consecutive losing matches, thus failing to qualify for the second round in the first two cricket world cups. However, every Indian cricket fan knows that there is nothing that can stop the team from getting what it deserves; Perhaps it is your sincere wishes and support that made the Indian team the winner of the World Cup in 1983 and gave all Indians a reason to celebrate cricket.
