Indoor hammocks: entertainment throughout the year

It seems that most of the hammocks in the United States are bought for abroad. This means that in most of the country, outside of the Southwest, the use of hammocks is seasonal. By having a home for your hammock indoors, you can enjoy it all year round.

Where to put them. Hammocks and hammocks are great indoor furniture. They bring an inviting warmth to social spaces like living rooms, family rooms, and finished foundations. They can also make cheerful and relatively inexpensive additions to bedrooms in place of chairs, benches, window seats, or even regular beds. An important decision regarding indoor hammocks is determining the types and colors that work best with the rest of the furniture in your home. In my opinion, rope hammocks fit into many decors, from casual to more formal. Mayan hammocks and other festive fabric hammocks can enhance the atmosphere in beach houses and country houses.

Understandably, hammocks and hammocks that are kept out of the elements (even away from bugs) last longer than those that are not. Popular places for hammocks and hammocks are enclosed porches protected by mosquito nets. Although these areas are not winterized to protect people from the cold, and are therefore not used everywhere throughout the year, they do provide shelter from

  • precipitation
  • sun
  • mosquitoes and other flying insects, and
  • wind-blown objects such as leaves.

How to hang them. When considering a hammock or hammock chair for your home, make sure you have measured enough space for the product you want. Remember, they swing. Also remember to calculate a comfortable distance between the bottom of your hammock or lounger and the ground. The easiest way to set up a hammock indoors is on a hammock stand. Space-saving metal discreets can be found in a variety of attractive colors to match your room’s color scheme. You can also hang hammocks from walls or ceilings. Be sure to use the proper hanging hardware for stud work on drywall, wood or masonry surfaces; or roof beams (seen or not). What precautions to take. Hammocks and indoor hammocks are fun, but make sure they are safe. If it’s connected to the walls or ceiling, check each connection point frequently to make sure it’s secure. Prevent children from jumping, running, or “jumping” around these dangling objects. Falling into them could mean a quick trip to the ground! If you keep your rope or fabric hammock product indoors (or on an enclosed or screened porch), it will require very little maintenance. Just make sure that if you don’t plan on using it for weeks or months at a time (because, say, you’re in a vacation home), you pack it (dry) in a bag or box and store it in a dry place.
