Win at the racetrack by doing less than this

Think there’s not much more you can do to get to where you’re redeeming more tickets at the dog track? After all, you’re probably thinking, I go through my schedule with a fine-toothed comb and what else can I do other than that? Well, maybe you don’t need to do more. Maybe you need to do less.

Sometimes it’s what you do before and after you go over your program that keeps you from making more money on the track. For example, you may be the best handicapper in the world, but if you don’t know how to bet or you bet too many combinations, you can still lose.

You have to put as much time and effort into calculating your bets as you do into your handicap. A very important aspect of betting is whether or not to bet. If you bet on every race there is no way you will end up winning at the end of the day.

So one thing you may need to do less of is gamble. Keep your bets as simple as possible, while still considering the best bets for each race. That’s not to say I never nail or roll dogs. It simply means that you think carefully about whether a bet makes sense given the return you are likely to get.

Sometimes keys or wheels make a lot of sense, especially if there are two or three dogs that are real contenders in a race. But sometimes a cash bet would be better and give you a better return on your money. It’s a delicate balancing act between the amount wagered and the probability of getting your money back, and more, if those dogs come in.

If you’re getting good at picking dogs in, but still not making any money at the dog track, consider taking a very close look at the type and amount of bets you make. It might even be a good idea to take a break from real betting and do paper betting for a while. This is a great way to try out different types of bets and see which one works best.

So if you want to collect more tickets and win more money, make fewer bets that don’t work. Sometimes, even in dog racing, less really is more.
