In the Indian two-wheeler industry there are many scooters intended for the use of working girls and women. Such scooters are usually lightweight and can be easily maneuvered and parked. There are many scooters like the Honda Dio, the TVS Wego, the Bajaj Kristal, the Vespa VX, the TVS Scooty Pep, the Hero Pleasure and the Honda Activa. Attempted here is a comparison of the features of the two best-selling 100cc models, the Hero Pleasure and the Honda Activa.
Hero Pleasure was originally launched in 2005 and upgraded in 2013. Honda Activa, launched in 2000, was upgraded as Activa-I in 2013. Priced at Rs 43,600, the Pleasure has a 102cc, 7ps, 8NM torque engine. The Activa-I priced at Rs 46,400 has a 109cc 8PS 9NM torque engine. Both have carburettor type fuel system and CDI type ignition with a spark plug. Both have automatic transmissions with dry-type clutches.
Hero Pleasure has a fully analog console with a speedometer, fuel gauge, and low fuel gauge. The Atactiva’s all-analog console has a speedometer, trip meter, fuel gauge, tachometer, and low fuel and low oil indicators. Both have electric starters. The bike has a 4 Ah battery with 35w reflector headlights, 5w taillight, 21w brake light and turn signals. Honda Activa has a 3 Ah maintenance free battery with 35w reflector headlamp, LED taillight and turn signal.
Both scooters have high rigidity under the bone type chassis. The Pleasure’s suspension is lower link with spring-loaded hydraulic shock at the front and swingarm with spring-loaded hydraulic shock at the rear. Activa also has spring-loaded hydraulic shocks at both ends. The pleasure comes in various colors like orange, green, silver, purple, black, red and white, blue, just white and red. Honda Activa comes in Geny Gray Metallic, Candy Lucid Red and Black Metallic.
The 104kg Hero Pleasure is lighter than the 110kg Activa. The Activa’s ground clearance is 153mm, better than the Pleasure’s 125mm. Brakes are 130mm drums at both ends for both vehicles. The tires are size 3.50×10”-51J for Pleasure and specification 90/100×10″-53J for Activa. Mileage and top speed for Pleasure are 49 kmpl and 77 kmph and Activa 55 kmpl and 85 kmph.
The ride quality and the widest range of colors are the pluses when it comes to Hero Pleasure. Its combined braking system and better fuel efficiency are advantageous for the Honda Activa.
