How to spot a fake Jimmy Choo bag

  • Label: The Jimmy Choo label is usually a lilac metal face attached to a leather backing and sewn to the inside of the bag. Many fakes have the wrong shade of lilac, either light or too dark in the purple spectrum. The label should read in gold or silver. However, even if the colors are correct, the label may not be clear. Because many times the source details that are unique to authentic Jimmy Choo, many of the fake bags are wrong, and this is one of the best places to look when trying to identify a fake J. Choo.
  • Make: Always check the “H” in Choo. In an authentic bag, the horizontal crossbar at the H should not be in the center of the letter, as it is supposed to be with respect to most standard fonts. Instead, the Jimmy Choo H should have the crossbar closer to the top, about 75-80% of the way up from the H, if measured from the bottom of the letter. If the bag has the correct H, move to the letters “O” in Choo. In an authentic bag, the O will have a slightly dented appearance. This means that the “O” will appear as if someone was hitting the top of the letter, giving the O an oval shape rather than a perfect circle. Spotting a fake Jimmy Choo bag often comes down to the subtleties of the source.
  • Hardware: Any screw located in the bag accessories will always be a flat head screw (-). Jimmy Choo will never use Philips (+) head screws in any of his bags.
  • Dust bag: Fake Jimmy Choo bags are often accompanied by a dust bag of the wrong color or format. A true dust bag should have the “JIMMY CHOO” logo, with “LONDON” perfectly centered below the logo. The font should be an embossed gray, while the dust bag itself will be in the famous lilac color. Many counterfeits will have the wrong font colors on the dust bag, as well as the wrong dust bag color, i.e. the wrong shades of purple, etc. Good luck and safe shopping!
