The Acai Berry Phenomenon

After all the hype in the media and on TV shows like Oprah recently, I thought I’d do a little research on the latest Acai berry phenomenon, and try to figure out what all the fuss is about… Well here goes .

What is Acai Berry?

Well, the Acai berry is a small round berry similar in size and appearance to a black grape and is the fruit of the very tall Acai palm tree (Euterpe oleracea), which is native to the rainforests and swamps of Central and South America. but it is most commonly found in the Amazon region of Brazil.

But all of the above is not what the Acai berry has become most famous for.

It has recently been credited as the world’s newest “superfood” for weight loss, and many companies have jumped on the bandwagon… So are these claims valid or not? Let’s see.

First of all, the Acai berry is by no means a newly discovered “superfood”… in fact, it has been around for centuries and has been an important part of the diet of certain Caboclo populations in the Amazon regions of Brazil.

The Berry is mainly harvested for food and eaten fresh but has many other uses, the pulp is used for coloring and in food flavoring as well as spirits, wines, juices and smoothies, Acai is also an ice cream flavor. in Brazil.

The Acai berry is also known to have many natural nutritional and medicinal properties, and has been used by Amazonian natives for its healing properties, as well as being an energy booster for hundreds of years. It is reported to speed up metabolism and cleanse the many toxins found in the body.

What about weight loss?

Well, by increasing the speed of the body’s digestive system, food eaten moves through the body at a faster rate, causing it to be removed from the body faster… Sort of a fat buster, if you will. And because there is less time for food to accumulate in the body, there is less time for the body to store it as fat, so in this sense it could very well help in the fight to lose weight… I’ll come back to this later.

But wait… YES… there is more.

The Acai berry is also being hailed for other benefits, including mental awareness and sharpness, boosting the immune system with its plethora of antioxidants; it’s also a great source of protein, carbs, and calories… Is there anything this fruit can’t do?

Wait… Did we forget Labido?

The Acai Berry is also claimed to bring healthy, vibrant energy to both men and women, and can be a powerful aphrodisiac.

According to some native peoples of the Amazon, the Acai berry has been shown to increase virility, stamina and sexual desire. This could possibly be borne out by the number of childbearers in the villages, it is reported that there are up to 13 children in some families.

Now what about weight loss?

There have been numerous clinical trials and claims that this new “superfood” is safe and can help people lose weight, some sources say anywhere from 8 to 25 pounds can be achieved in a month. Below are some figures that have been quoted in various product testimonials:

I lost 35 pounds in 11 weeks.

In less than 15 weeks I lost 42 pounds.

I have already lost 10 pounds in two weeks.

I have lost 16 pounds in a month.

I lost 27 pounds in 8 weeks.

I lost 8 pounds in 2 weeks and my energy has gone through the roof.

There are many more testimonials that support the claims that Acai Berry can help you lose weight.

But… you guessed it… that’s not all.

There are many more testimonials indicating other benefits such as:

o Help lower cholesterol levels

o Improved digestion

o Increase energy and stamina

o Increase libido

o Promote healthy sleep

o Lower blood pressure

or Detox

o Lighter skin

o Reduce pain and discomfort

o Fights aging and inflammation

o Protect against heart disease

or support the immune system

o Helps in weight loss

So how easily is Acai Berry available?

I’m afraid you won’t be able to get fresh Acai berries unless you live in or around the Brazilian Rainforest, as the Acai berry has a very short shelf life, it will go bad within a day once it’s picked.

So the companies that process and ship the fruit are making a fortune right now… I guess that’s a small price for those of us who want to look and feel good.

to your good health
